The rapper performed with a live band, which made everything look and sound authentic. Imagine the raw motswako lyrics by Drama Boi fused with a live band performance.

To make it classier, he performed all the tracks on Township Music 2 and called out all the featuring acts such as Rizz, MMP family, Katlego and Gaone Ranthoiwa on stage to perform their respective songs.

The opening songs Genesis and Conversation with Mama were very conscious and they touched people’s hearts, which led to the audience relating to every track he performed.

He raised the tempo high when he started performing tracks such as Mosutele, Party next door and Bosigo kao fela, which led people to the dance floor. While performing with his band you could also tell that he was enjoying himself, as he was looking jolly and happy on stage interacting with the audience.

For someone who has listened to Drama Boi’s album, watching him perform at Botswana Craft made it seem like they were watching a 3D DVD live performance because of the clean sound and lighting. The majority of people who had attended the event were real motswako and Drama Boi fans as this could be easily seen by the way they reacted, singing along to every track word for word.

Drama Boi’s young sister, Katlego made a lot of appearances on stage as she was featured on a number of tracks and the musical chemistry between the two siblings was amazing.

For a Motswako hip hop gig at Botswana Craft, the event was fully packed, as the venue is well known for hosting adult contemporary events such as Jazz and cultural events.

Upon finishing his set there was a special request from the rapper’s mother that he performs Sala Lenna a tribute to his late grandmother who raised him up. It was an emotional moment as the mother went on stage, hugged both Drama Boi and Katlego.

Drama Boi’s management hinted that performing with a live band would be part of the new brand package for the rapper.
