BDP's BOMASE Regional Congress Halted

The region known as BOMSASE is made up of Selibe-Phikwe East, Selibe Phikwe West, Mmadinare and Bobonong. The congress was supposed to have been held over the weekend.
According to a letter dated February 20 written by secretary general Mpho Balopi; “ the central committee has received notification of a complaint alleging irregularities in the recent election of the Bobonong branch committee. At its meeting of Monday 18 February 2019, the central committee made a determination to assign BOMASE region member of central committee Magang Ngaka Ngaka, Dr Comma Serema, Political Education and Elections Committee (PEEC) and the BOMASE regional committee to conduct an investigation into the election of the Bobonong branch committee and to report their findings to the central committee”. The letter further states that the central committee was aware that BOMASE intended to convene a congress meeting on February 23, 2019.
It said therefore proceeding with the regional congress while the investigation has not been finalised and the complaint unresolved could disadvantage the Bobonong branch or jeopardise the congress.
The letter continued; “We thus recommend that the BOMASE region should postpone its regional congress to Saturday March 02, 2019 to allow time for the conclusion of the investigation.”
It is still unclear who will win the nomination between president Mokgweetsi Masisi and Pelonomi Venson- Moitoi.
Meanwhile, at South East region congress, Masisi was unanimously nominated for the party presidency. The regional chairperson, Odirile Motlhale pleaded with Masisi to work with them to turn their fortunes around, as they currently do not have a Member of Parliament in the region.
The region is made up of four constituencies; Mochudi East, Mochudi West, Tlokweng And Ramotswa.
