Fraudsters swindle woman of half a million

Ramotswa Police reported that the money was withdrawn at different times over a period of five months. The Botswana Police Service (BPS), deputy public relations officer Near Bagali stated that they have not made any arrest yet, but investigations into the matter are ongoing. 

Bagali said they are greatly concerned about the number of people who fall prey to criminals who swindle them of substantial amounts of money.  He said a number of police stations are inundated with reports of people who easily give away their hard earned cash to criminals who masquerade as prophets. 

He said in yet another case of obtaining by false pretences, Gaborone Central Police are investigating a case in which a 69-year-old-woman was also swindled of P198,000 by two criminals under the pretext that the ancestors will help her cast out evil spirits.
