The Wedding Expo, which has been themed, ‘The Wedding Expo 2016: An Intimate Mall of Place’ is a project by students from the Faculty of Communication Media and Broadcasting (FCMB) that are studying events management. These students are part of the Target 20,000.

“The 174 students will be taking the class outside as they will be showcasing their expertise by organising this Wedding Expo. They are doing everything themselves as they are being monitored by the school since this is their end of semester project,” said Tsholofelo Zigwa the students’ event and management director.

She noted that the Wedding Expo will host various wedding business experts that will exhibit different wedding elements. “The Wedding Expo 2016, ‘An Intimate Mall of Place’ will have a full wedding package that will range from gown designers, cake suppliers, wedding planners, pastors, catering suppliers and choreographers to mention just a few”.

The expo will be open for interested exhibitors as it will be free to exhibit. So far 50 people have registered to exhibit their various crafts.

Zigwa noted that this is a platform for students to showcase what they have learnt since most of their schoolwork comprises of practicals more than theory work.

Tinny Timela, a student who is the coordinator is heading the expo project. “This is also a platform for people involved in the wedding business to meet up, network and create relations that will bring more business opportunities,” said Timela.

Some of the LUCT students will also exhibit their crafts. Organisers are calling for more interested exhibitors especially young and upcoming entrepreneurs to register.

Miss Botswana 2013, Rosemary Keofitlhetse, and local promoter, Zenzele Hirschfield will be the guest speakers at the event. Exhibitors will be awarded certificates during the one day exhibition event.
