Botho University hosts Bokgeleke Arts and Cultural festival

In an interview with Showbiz, the event coordinator Bonny Moapare said the event dubbed, ‘Bokgeleke Arts and Cultural Festival’ will be one of its kind. She added that the event will kick start with the taste of different traditional dishes such as dikgobe, bogobe jwa lerotse, kabu, serobe, seswaa, samp and many others.  Before and during lunch, the revelers will have an opportunity to play and learn various traditional games such as koi, mmele, diketo, dithini and others. Moapare said afterwards, there will be different traditional dance performances in the hall where different youth groups will be competing.

“We have invited the youth from other local institutions.

We have realised that most of the youth do not know Setswana culture. In order to preserve culture, we have to pass it onto our children so that they can pass it onto their children. That way our culture can live for the next decades,” she said. Moapare added that they have also borrowed some paintings and other things from the National Musuem that will give the viewers a chance to learn about the history of this country. She also said they welcome people from other countries to come and showcase their culture. She explained that, that was because Botswana is a multi racial society.

The event will start at 11am till late in the evening. This cultural event is free.
