Mafolofolo say the postponement is justified

Mafolofolo coach, Kabo Ntshinogang said the volleyball rule is that when a club has two or more players in the national team, its league matches are postponed.

He said it also depends on a club whether to play or not. He told Mmegi Sport that the postponement is a good move. He said the other challenge they are facing was that some players are engaged in school examinations.

“It is examinations time in all schools including tertiary institutions. That means players have to focus on their studies, but at the same time we expect them to play,” he said. Ntshinogang said the national team comes first and it should be given a priority.

Lee Tshipane of BDF VI on the other hand said the postponement could be a disadvantage to some teams. He said when the league takes longer to be completed injuries and burnout might arise.

“I know it is up to us as clubs to keep our players fit but at the same time we have to make sure that they are not kept under pressure as some might just walk away,” he said.

Meanwhile BDF VI, which was poised to challenge for league honours at the beginning of the season after beefing their line-up, has failed to deliver.

Tshipane said they have had setbacks and find themselves in fourth, the same position they finished at last season.

“Despite having new players, they need to play as a team to bring positive results. That has not been the case with my players. They took long to gel. Hopefully they would improve in the remaining futures,” he said. Their rivals Mafolofolo are, in the meantime, flying high in the women’s league where they sit top. But despite the good position, coach Ntshinogang feels there is more they have to do. He said as a coach, it is never enough to be on top, as they have to find reasons why they drop some sets.

He said they could not take anything for granted in the remaining seven games because they will play against tough opponents Kutlwano, BDF VI, Kalavango and Dynamites. He said with such matches it is too early to celebrate until all points are collected and in the bag.

Mafolofolo lead the log with 61 points followed by Kutlwano with 54 points, Kalavango sit third with 51 points and BDF VI is fourth with 48 points.
