Speaking to Mmegi in an interview on Saturday, 34-year old Kebonyekgotla said he has plans to tackle poverty, youth unemployment, lack of electricity and the poor state of internal roads in the ward.
He said unemployed youth in his ward will be assisted with access to vocational schools to acquire technical skills.
He expressed concern that Boyei is an old ward that is lagging behind in development because of poor representation both at parliamentary and council levels.
He said families living near the mall should be discouraged from selling their plots 'for peanuts' to property developers.
Kebonyekgotla accused the department of Water Affairs of failing to provide the ward with adequate potable water.' The people here with businesses are suffering due to constant disruptions of water supply,' he said.
He will see to the demolition of dilapidated structures left behind by former Botshabelo residents who relocated to Disaneng to pave way for the expansion of the airport.
He added that students of Moeng CJSS are exposed to the risk of being attacked by criminals as they walk to school and back because the criminals hide in the empty houses.
Kebonyekgota said the government should decentralise in order for councils to become more effective. Currently a businessman running a bar, a taxi and a cleaning company, Kebonyekgotla employs 20 people.
With a Certificate in agriculture, Kebonyekgotla has worked in the public service as a technical assistant. He completed a short course in human rights in Geneva. Upon completion of Form 5 at Maun Senior Secondary School, Kebonyekgotla was posted to the CKGR as a Tirelo Sechaba Participant in 1995.
