In addition, she said there is lack of infrastructure that really hits hard on her finances, as she has to have her own sewage. This forces her to draw from time to time due to the fact that there is no proper sewage drainage in Molepolole.
After leaving her job, the Master’s Degree holder in Human resources development turned her house into a guesthouse in the village, as she wanted something that will keep her busy.
Yalots guest house started operating at the end of August 2017 as a guesthouse but later diversified into catering, hosting small parties including baby showers, bridal showers.
“We started small, hosting meetings for small groups of people that can fit into our reception. Most of our customers are mostly from government and private sector that come for business in Molepolole,” she said.
Pheto was fortunate enough to have Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) by her side. The government owned agency offered her some business coaching, on-site mentoring and advisory services.
“LEA played a huge role in the growth of my business, they have been with the since inception. I was overwhelmed by their assistance because I never thought they were that effective,” she said.
Pheto also stated that she has been struggling a little with marketing her 10 bedroomed guesthouse.
Despite all the challenges she faces as a businesswoman, Pheto explained that what keeps her business growing is through her Bee inspiration as bees work hard to make sure that the queen bee stays comfortable at all times hence the need for her to meet the needs and demands of her customers.
“What makes me unique from my competitors is that I capitalises on being very clean, provide a noise free environment and providing Wi-Fi for my guests which enables them to work 24 hours or within the period of time that they are here” Pheto explained. YALOTS guesthouse is named from Pheto’s her children’s names; Yaone, Loago and Tshepiso.
