Bathoen Trust Finances Divide Malope II And His Aunt

But when Malope II stood up to talk, his face showed signs of a troubled man. Malope II told Bangwaketse that his aunt is conniving with some people to tarnish his name.

“Some people who are calling themselves concerned group and my aunt have been going around tarnishing my name on local newspapers. I don’t have a problem when people talk about Bathoen trust but they should not say something’s I didn’t do. I am even contemplating to sue my aunt,” Malope said.

To which, former minister, Peter Siele stood and reminded Bangwaketse that it is not proper for them to attack or say bad things about their chief in public.

“Lets respect our chief Bangwaketse. Kgosi ga a kgalemelwe mo patlelong. We are inviting our enemies to divide us even more.  I am pleading with the chief to forgive his aunt. It is not proper for us to resolve our differences through court of law. We will be worsening things,” Siele said.

He continued; “The chiefs uncles and other aunts should meet and reconcile the two. I am asking Bangwaketse to stop diving the two even further”.

Another elder and royal aunt Ditshebentle Tshotletsi agreed, saying, “I am very concerned that some people have started to have meetings behind Malope II back. The family should meet and find ways of resolving this issue before the end of next week. Some people know our history very well and I am scared that history might repeat itself. Pele ga thobolo e lela a re bueng re a agisanyeng. Ba lwapa la rona le bagolo mo motseng ba ntlhaloganya”.

But, as the deputy chief Kepatse Telekelo, pointed out, the matter is not as simple. He said the issue regarding Kgosi and his aunt is a difficult one because he had tried several times to talk to the aunt but she is not cooperative.

The chief’s aunt would not be silenced though. “It is not true that I said bad things about Malope II name,” said Gaseitsiwe in her own defence. “I only called him and spoke to his uncles that there is need to have trust audit report. Yes we called the media because its been years this trust failing to give us feedback on financial statement. In that one I support the concerned members,” she said.
