Serowe Derby Ends Deadlocked

Both teams were quick to attack and Lovers drew first blood as early as the sixth minute through Malvin Tinashe who finished Samuel Phiri’s shot from a corner kick. In the eighth minute, Tse Nala won a free kick but captain Kelepile Terata’s effort hit the Lovers wall.
Two minutes later, Tinashe’s effort was easily collected by goalkeeper Bophelo Kealeboga.
Miscellaneous restored parity through Chakova Moyenga in the 12th minute. Strong winds then took control, blowing most of the balls towards the Miscellaneous goal until half time intervened.
The tempo of the match increased in the second stanza with both teams introducing fresh legs.
With eight minutes before the end, Moyenga failed to finish Master Masitara’s effort as he sent his shot over with the goalkeeper out of sight. Both teams settled for a point.
Miscellaneous coach, Russia Chaba said it was upon the players to decide the result of the game. “It’s a fair result. If it wasn’t by the wind in the first half, maybe we could have done better. In the second half, the boys were just booting the ball away. They failed to play well,” Chaba said.
On the other hand Lovers coach, Othusitse Kootswele said he was impressed with how the boys played although he also complained that the winds disturbed their play in the first half.
“Despite the winds, the boys played well. We were not under pressure from our opponents. But all in all we have started the league well (a loss, a win and a draw). The boys did well despite other challenges. They have shown that they are capable; they just need some people or companies to come on board to assist them,” he said.
