Unveiled under the same record label that unearthed Motlha of Mmamotse fame,   Roc Lefatshe Records’ award-winning producer, Suffocate put them together. Khoisan exudes a very modern sound with undertones that play to their traditional influences, which can also be used to describe their style. Khoisan comes across as slightly cheeky and radiates urban confidence.

Their music delivers messages aimed to uplift listeners as well as heal the souls of those who relate all around the world. According to the group, Khoisan’s music comes to them from somewhere deep down a place of energy and their message is always channelled through to the audience.

The hit songmakers of Marabele are proud of the hard work, dedication and determination they have put in making the song because it has landed them collaborations with international artists.

It has been a huge opportunity for a group just three months in the making. Suffocate told Arts & Culture that Khoisan is not just about making music for music but music that reflects who Batswana are and their history.   He forewarned Batswana to be on the look out for their upcoming album in a few months.

A member of the group, Lempaletse expressed appreciation at the support they have got from not only Batswana, but also from different countries like Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa which he said was overwhelming and has pushed them to do their best.

“We will do everything to please them and go all out to represent our country internationally,”  Lempaletse said.  Khoisan is a collective term for a language and its now fewer than a million speakers who inhabit  Southern Africa.

Notable for the use of clicks (made by suction with the tongue) as additional consonants, Khoisan has found a namesake in the form of this music ensemble.
