Another gloomy season for BDF IX

They have collected 16 points from 10 matches, after eight wins and two losses.
BDF IX coach, James Moremedi said at the beginning of the season, the focus was on strengthening their defence, but that proved to be a challenge as the campaign wore on. Moremedi said his number one pitcher started feeling strain. “Mogale is in the national team, which means he works hard all the time. I wanted my players to close the defence even if we struggle in offence,” he said.
BDF IX face Police IX this evening at the National Diamond and Moremedi said they have to do everything in their power to win the game.
Log leaders, Wells International have accumulated 20 points from 12 matches, having only lost two matches.
Wells manager, Gabobofane Gabobofane said everything has gone according to plan.
“Being on top does not mean we should relax, no, we are going to continue fighting. We want to win everything from the league to the Phikwe extravaganza. We are a self sponsored team and any cash prize counts,” he said.
Wells vice captain, Tawangwa Ketlaleka said Wells management always motivates them to go an extra mile. He said the arrival of two players from Gatalamotho and Bears boosted the squad.
Meanwhile, the league has ended in the North and Rail Giants finished top with 18 points from nine games after registering nine wins.
Scramblers were second with 14 points and Carats, were third on 14 points also, but behind on scores differences.
Giants’ coach, Pako Maforaga said over the years they have been targeting BDF IX who were dominating the league.
“We knew that if we beat them, we are done. That mindset made us to lose focus and we have stopped doing that,” he said.
Maforaga said the northern league is not action packed like in the south. He said in the north, the league is played in tournament format.
He also said, that makes it difficult for them when they play teams from the south.
“You find that our league has ended but in the south they are still playing. It is difficult to play somebody who is match ready,” Maforaga said.
