Satmos players, management smoke peace pipe

The team failed to honour the fixture against Maun Tigers as they refused to travel to Maun in a combi. Satmos coach, Mogolodi ‘Sticks’ Chepete told Mmegi Sport that players had demanded a mini bus arguing a combi was not comfortable for a long journey.
“The situation has been resolved now since I have talked to the boys to stay away from the management’s issues,” he said after his team beat TASC 2-1 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chepete said although his players displayed a good performance in their first match, there is still room for improvement, especially upfront. He added that the players’ combination still leaves much to be desired. He noted that the whole team consisted of new players, saying this resulted in the poor combinations.
“The boys could not combine the way I have wanted and that is where we have to work on in preparation for our next match. We also need to improve our defence as well as the mid-field. But all in all I must say I am really impressed by today’s performance,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from TASC were unsuccessful as they refused to be interviewed.
In other first division matches played here over the weekend, Real Movers registered their first win for the season in their second game after beating Maun Tigers 1-0 on Saturday. Movers coach, Keleneetse Leposo said although they won, it was not smooth sailing. He added that the absence of his two strikers due to injuries also contributed to his team’s average display. He was, however, optimistic the duo will return for the next match. Furthermore, Leposo noted that half of his players are employees at the doomed BCL Mine, stating that this has affected them psychologically in the match.
“The situation also affects me as I am a BCL Mine employee too and I am really worried that the club will be greatly affected as there is a possibility of some of those players deserting the town for greener pastures. However, we have accepted the situation and I are currently pondering on how to deal with it,” he said.
On the other hand, Maun Tigers coach, Lolo Mosojane said that his team was fairly competent, highlighting that the loss resulted from a defensive error.
He pointed out that the error can be easily rectified as they prepare to face Great North Tigers in Francistown over the weekend.
“Although we lost our first game, I would say it was not a bad start for us looking at how the boys performed and it is for this reason that I do not want to put the blame on them,” he said. Mosojane further indicated that he had five new players whose combination and fitness still need to be worked on moving forward.
“One thing I am happy with is the officiating in today’s game. Last season we encountered a lot of problems with referees in almost all our away games. I hope that this season we will continue getting this kind of officiating,” Mosojane said.
