Zebras land in Francistown ahead of dead rubber

Mpote called-up Mogorosi, the league's leading top goal scorer with 15 goals, after his preferred choice, Omaatla Kebatho dropped out, citing academic commitments.

Mpote told Mmegi Sport that the team had trained well in the morning, with another session due later in the day.

'Some players are carrying minor knocks from their clubs, but it's nothing much,' Mpote said.

The coach has said he is focusing on development, which is the reason why he has snubbed senior players such as Dirang Moloi who are in fine form on the domestic front.

Mpote, however, said despite the target being developing young talent, victory was still paramount.

'Development or no development, we play to win. The players' response has been impressive,' he said.

The Zebras and Mpote, are searching for their first ever win in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, with just one point out of five games.

Mpote was appointed caretaker coach, after the Botswana Football Association (BFA) sacked David Bright last month.

While the match is a dead rubber for the Zebras, it has significant meaning for the Palencas Negras of Angola, who need an outright victory to progress to the finals, which Egypt host in June.
