Fans overwhelmingly condemned the home kit, but were less critical of the away and alternative jersey PIC: KEOAGILE BONANG

This comes after fans took to social media, in particular criticising the design of the home kit which was paraded by skipper, Joel Mogorosi.

The black and white stripes on the jersey, which some jokingly remarked “resembled a tie”, were seen as out of sync with the rest of the design.“This is totally embarrassing. Di stripe o kare pedestrian crossing sign,” one Mmegi reader reacted.

“Umbro is abusing us, can I report this to FIFA,” another retorted.

But most fans were less critical of the away and alternative kits, with the white jersey particularly receiving the thumbs up.

“I love the white one,” was an apt reaction from a Mmegi online reader. “All white ke yone. Nice,” added another.

BFA marketing and public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said the association was happy with what Umbro had delivered.

“It embraces our colours very well. We must be quick to say, the kit will be up for scrutiny and (obviously) it will take time for people to choose their preferred colour. The kit will be in stores first week of April, and we are confident it will sell. It is very nice.

“It was designed specifically for Botswana and reflects our colours. The stripes in Mogorosi’s kit represent the stripe of a Zebra and our national colours,” Mpatane said.

The BFA and Umbro recently signed a three- year contract, as the British brand replaced All Kasi as the mother body’s technical sponsor.
