Take Sports Seriously - Molao

He was delivering a keynote address on Saturday at the Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association (BOTESSA) Athletics Championships at the Francistown Sports Complex.
Molao encouraged sports people to stay clear of drugs because they can ruin their lives and careers. He encouraged all athletes who participated in the games that they are capable of using the games to qualify for major tournaments like the Olympic Games and World Championships.
The minister said that he was happy because the games also included people with disabilities. Molao thanked the sponsors of the tourney, First National Bank Botswana (FNNB), “for helping government to nurture and support sports in the country”.
He said that without strategic stakeholders like FNNB, sports in the country cannot develop and grow. The branch manager of FNNB in Francistown, Lucky Bogopa said the bank has a strategic plan of helping the community in various ways.
He cited sports as one of the examples of the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. Bogopa added that FNNB will always continue to assist the country in its economic diversity plans by investing in sports and other sectors.
The deputy mayor of Francistown Godisang Radisigo applauded FNNB for the gesture. He said that championships are a platform that can unearth talent, which can compete competitively in the world.
Echoing Molao’s sentiments, Radisigo urged the athletes to not use drugs to enhance their performance.
The civic leader added that using drugs to enhance performance is dangerous to one’s career.
