Huawei winners urged to transform Botswana's technology

Of the 10 students sponsored by Huawei, four are from University of Botswana (UB), three from Botho University and the other three from Botswana International University of Science and Technology. 

The selected students will soon travel to China for ICT talents training programme to be conducted in Beijing and Shenzhen. 

“The fact that you have been selected means that you are the best placed to bring back the value of this opportunity,” Makgato said. 

“Go and gather knowledge, explore how technology is developed and, share the knowledge acquired to help build Botswana into an internationally competitive nation and economy.” 

Makgato said the government of Botswana intends to be amongst the technology leaders and has entreated Batswana to transform the country’s economy from being resource based, to knowledge economy.
