Miss Earth Botswana is back

Smash Deal public relations officer, Osego Maseko told Arts & Culture that the pageantry auditions will commence on March 30, 2019 at Maun Lodge.  The auditions will then go to Cresta Botsalo Lodge in Palapye on April 6 followed by Gaborone.  The date and venue would be confirmed at a later date.  Maseko said registration is P300 per person while 20 contestants would be selected from the auditions and undergo training through a bootcamp.

The contestants would then fight to be amongst the 12 finalists who will battle it out for the crown at the finale.

They would be judged from the bootcamp and also during the fashion show, which will be held before the grand finale.

“Miss Earth pageant is an international environmental event channelling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote environmental awareness. Botswana made its debut at Miss Earth in 2006.”

“The winner is involved in numerous educational initiatives, with more emphasis on educating the general public about the importance of a cleaner and safer environment and involved in tree planting, road safety campaigns and taking part in the commemoration of environmentally related day such as World Environment Day,” Maseko said.

The aim of this beauty pageant is for candidates and winners to actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environmental and the protection of Mother Earth.  It also showcases and promotes various tourist destinations and serves as the ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.  Maseko said traditionally, the winner of Miss Earth Botswana represents the country at the international pageantry. He said this year, the queen will be competing against other international beauty queens at Philippines later this year. She will also walk away with a whooping P50, 000 cash and other prizes.

“Partners and sponsors will also receive extensive benefits designed to provide public relations opportunities, increase community connections, develop brand awareness, strengthen the company’s image and enhance visibility,” Maseko said. “We will customise sponsorship and advertisement sponsorship and advertisement in a away that best fits with your company’s vision mission and objectivities.” He therefore called on local business community to sponsor the event. At the moment, the pageant has secured sponsorship from two companies namely Test Right Consulting Group and Ozzy Entertainment.
