The match between Sankoyo Bush Bucks and Sua Flamingoes started an hour later than anticipated owing to lack of playing kit by the visitors.
Sankoyo ended up playing the match with a BTC Premiership branded kit after it emerged that their Orange FA Cup kit will not be delivered on time.
There were reports that the order of the kit was not done timely to the manufacturer, which is why it was not delivered on match day.
However, the development had little impact on the mood of the Sankoyo players.
The Maun side powered two goals past the hosts to advance to the last 16 of the competition. Flamingoes’ consolation strike came from Patrick Lenyeletse towards the dying minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, in the second match played at the same venue, Great North Tigers who have roped in former Zebras defender Ndiyapo Letsholathebe as coach lost the match by a solitary goal against Miscellaneous.
The clash between Miscellaneous and GNT could also have been halted had GNT equalised owing to the fact that it finished when it was already dark. The referee was also forced to shorten minutes for the half time break in a bid to ensure that more time is not lost.
Since roping in Letsholathebe, GNT seem to have ditched their popular defensive approach in favour of an attacking game usually punctuated by neat passing. Apart from not creating enough chances, they dominated against the Premier League outfit.
Only man of the match, Mocheka Longwane looked lively for Miscellaneous and did his defensive work in the midfield with aplomb.
The most notable opportunity of the match fell for Miscellaneous in the first half for striker Lynoth Chikhuwa in the 17th minute after he was set up by Botsile Kebaikanye with a low cross from left. Chikhuwa connected well with the ball to find the back of the net.
Just towards the break, former TAFIC forward Mbatshi Machongo missed a glorious opportunity to bring back GNT into the match. He was set up Kagisano Mungu on the edge of the goal area. Machongo sent his shot wide instead of coolly beating Miscellaneous goalie Boitumelo Semaatla. Miscellaneous tried on several occasions to find rhythm in the first half but they just could not click.
The hosts were nearly caught napping just after break when Bhekuyise Kunene was set up by Chikhuwa. GNT goalie Segolame Jobe came off his line to avert the danger. Seconds later GNT defender Oratile Dongwane’s well taken shot from range went agonisingly wide.
Dongwane was also unlucky not to find the back of the net in the 74th minute after his well taken header was effectively dealt with by Semaatla.
The second half proved to be a very dull affair as both teams seldom created notable scoring opportunities.
However, GNT did enjoy little possession than the visitors. Letsholathebe introduced a striker for a defender towards the end of the match in a bid to boost attack but the move did not pay any dividends.
