National Team Boxers Outperforms Lesotho Opponents

Lesotho Boxing club also graced the tournament and had friendly bouts with the national team boxers to challenge themselves ahead of the championships.

National team coach, Lechedzani Luza was delighted with the performance of his charges against Lesotho pugilists.

The local boxers won all their bouts. At least two boxers from Lesotho picked up injuries while others surrendered before their bouts ended.

Luza said the team is ready for the championships and has nothing to worry about.

The national team boxers have been in camp for the last two weeks as they prepare for the Zone 4 Championships. He said they were making efforts to build self-confidence ahead of the regional competition.

The female 60kg category comprised Keamogetse Kenosi whose bout was halted due to an injury to her opponent Mapoleng Letsie from Lesotho.

Aratwa Kesemang dominated the entire bout as she showed her hyper energy until the last round and won 3-0 against Mantsoa Ranone of Lesotho.

Lethabo Modukanele in the 49kg category showed an outstanding performance with no doubts that indeed she has been well trained as she won 3-0 against Lesotho’s Fusi Seholoho who was not able to defend herself from the unstoppable fast fists.

In the male category, the referee stopped the contest between Otukile Mohammed of 52kg and Thabo Molefe of Lesotho after the latter picked up an injury.

Treasure Moremi of 60kg won 2-1 against Moroke Mokhoto of Lesotho who could not play to the standards of the category as he suffered several punches and was defenseless.

BoBA would host the SADC Zone 4 championships on April 23 until 28 in Gaborone.

It will include 12 countries; Angola, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Eswatini, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Comoros.
