Mangisi said that as a young woman who believed in working around the clock, she would use her status as the queen to empower fellow students and ensure that they take their studies seriously. She further stated that she felt that she had the potential and capability to positively represent the institution.

Earlier, during the question and answer session for the top five, the young woman was able to impress a number of fans amongst fellow students when she was asked how she felt about beauty pageants limiting women and choosing specific type of women to compete in pageants.

She replied that she believed that as a woman, one could do whatever she wants and that every woman is strong in her own way. She further explained that she believes that women should be allowed to do what they want and enter beauty pageants despite their body sizes or structures as every woman has is beautiful. She won P1,800.

Niccollette Mthupha from Swaziland was second and walked away with P1,400 cash prize. Third prize  went to Ts’epang Maqelo from Lesotho who won herself P1,000.

The pageant started off with the gorgeous ladies parading in their hot pants and t-shirts showing off their beautiful bodies. They later showcased their traditional dances and attires. Swaziland women sung and danced wearing makgabe and matching bra tops while the Lesotho women wore the famous Sotho colours. Batswana young women decided to showcase various German print dresses, skirts and shawls. They showcased different roles played by a Motswana woman such as go hehera, sweeping with a traditional broom and pounding corn.

The young and energetic O Tla Mmona Ko Kae artist, Lizibo kept the evidently hyped youth on their toes with his brilliant performances.

The pageant followed the conclusion of ball games  also won by Botswana campus after scoring four gold medals from men’s football, volleyball, netball and women’s  volleyball, while Swaziland campus could only manage  one gold in the men’s  basketball.

Lesotho was making their debut in the friendly games and their best effort was a silver in the women’s volleyball.

The next games will be hosted by the Lesotho campus in Maseru.
