The celebrations started off with a gala dinner a day before at Lotlamoreng I Junior Secondary School in Goodhope. On the morrow, a motorcade proceeded across some of the villages in the sparse constituency before the villagers, including little ones ,gathered for lunch.

Lotlamoreng’s family members came en-masse, including his mother, sister, aunt, other close relatives and friends. Presidents of other partner parties under the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) were present except for Duma Boko who was said to be unwell.

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD)’s Ndaba Gaolathe and Botswana People’s Party (BPP)’s Motlatsi Molapise would not stay throughout the proceedings as they had to head to Selebi-Phikwe to attend to the BCL closure news. Also spotted were a few individuals wearing African National Congress (ANC) colours, but no official mention of them was made as to whether the South Africans came on their own, or they were invited .

As the celebrations started, the Moononites, who had gathered under the two tents  would not be fazed by the heavenly storm that appeared to have been brewing, as they to took celebratory messages.  They also witnessed as former Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) councillor for Rakhuna, Aaron Mothibi and some of his followers  were welcomed into their fold.

Though they lost two councillors to the BDP last week, the masses could not be moved as they sang victory songs with their MP.

Lotlamoreng who has on numerous occasions been linked  to the BDP won the constituency against Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration minister Eric Molale last August.  James Mathokgwane who had in the 2014 elections snatched it from Kitso Mokaila of the BDP after numerous unsuccessful attempts left the seat vacant for a government job.
