The matter was reported to Bakgatla Tribal Administration offices, which further heard that the MP has also allegedly vanished 98 cattle belonging to his only surviving brother, William Davids.

Speaking to Mmegi, Kgosi Time Pilane, who first presided over the case before it went to Mochudi main Kgotla, said Davids is a troubled soul.

“His son is accusing him of stealing over 10 of his cattle whereas his brother is accusing him of stealing 98 of cattle. Efforts to summon Davids to this Kgotla have been futile despite several efforts because Davids listens to nobody,” he said, before adding that the matter was later handled by the main Kgotla.

Kgosi Segale Linchwe confirmed to Mmegi that they have the case before them, but said his assistant Kgosi Modise Pilane was handling it. Pilane referred us to Davids’ brother William who made a whole list of accusations against the MP.

William alleged that Davids stole about 20 of his son’s cattle and 98 belonging to him. “As an elder brother to me, he always encouraged us to buy cattle and leave them with him to take care of. To our surprise, we recently found out that we currently do not even have a single beast to which MP Davids threatens to assault us when we confront him. He has branded all the cattle including those of our mother with his branding iron and many have mysteriously disappeared from the kraal,” he alleged.

He said MP Davids has also taken two of his guns, which he refuses to return. “I used to keep my rifles at his place as he has a rifle safe, but now they have also disappeared mysteriously,” he said.

William said dealing with Davids is always an uphill battle. “When you confront him over anything, he kicks everything in front of you including you. He is so dictatorial and irrational, my family, chiefs and everyone you can think of has failed dismally to advise him. Recently, I wrote a letter to him, copied to my mother, Mochudi station commander, Bakgatla bogosi and our sisters calling him to accept my call for a meeting in which we should address the issues but he has not shown up,” said William who further alleged that he lost four front teeth all thanks to MP Davids’ blows.

William says he has also decided to fight and replace Davids in the upcoming general elections as he has failed to live up to expectations through his conduct. “His conduct is a shame to everybody,” he said.

David’s party youth members also recently petitioned him over his ‘unbecoming conduct’. The petition is before Kgatleng district Commissioner.

Other matters involving him and his family are before Mochudi police station, which has referred some to Parliament according to Mochudi station commander, Simon Sitale.

Kgosi Pilane informed this publication that Davids denied all the allegations levelled against him in the preliminary discussions with him. Efforts to reach Davids were futile as he dropped his phone while this reporter was in the process of speaking to him. His phones later went off for the most part of the day. Mmegi also tried in vain to seek comment from Davids’ son.
