Shining moment: Thema with Minister Dow

This year’s two day conference, which is sponsored by Orange Botswana kicked off yesterday at the Gaborone International Conference Centre under the theme “Back to School”.

According to Richard Harriman of Consumer Watchdog, this theme places emphasis on the need for continuous learning in customer service as well as the need to use each interaction and mistake as a lesson to propel commitment towards improved customer experience.

Each year the conference brings together a plethora of highly skilled speakers with a wealth of business knowledge to share key practices, experiences and advice on customer service. In addition to the speakers, there is a special recognition and award for individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to customer service from their respective places of work. Tema loves what she does and this makes it easier for her to go the extra mile and serve her customers with a smile.

“I am a people’s person. I love people…so getting to meet and interact with different people every day gives me great joy. I serve with a smile because I always put myself in the shoes of the customer and I always give the service I would expect to receive had the tables been turned. Making sure that they leave the shop with a smile and having them come back is the highlight of my job,” she says.

Like the other award recipients, Tema expressed great joy at having been honoured with this award today.

For her, this is a direct appreciation from the customers she serves on a daily basis, and sees this as an encouragement to keep doing what she does to ensure that all Orange customers that come in contact with her receive only the best service from her, with an added bonus of her million dollar smile.
