Rollers Trips, Galaxy Closes Gap

Ahead of their clash with city rivals, Gaborone United (GU) on Wednesday, Rollers are now in danger of losing the top spot to fellow contenders, Jwaneng Galaxy who are breathing heavily on their necks.
The Mascom Top 8 champions collected the much-needed points against Black Forest on Saturday. Rollers however still have a game in hand as the wait for a decision on their match against Miscellaneous continues.
Miscellaneous did not pitch up for their encounter with Rollers last month arguing that they received a communication for the change of fixtures late and were unable to travel. Rollers on the other hand pitched up for the match and the referee called it off.
The issue sparked a row, which forced the mother body, Botswana Football Association (BFA) to act and they took a decision to revive the BPL management committee to oversee the running of the league.
It remains to be seen whether a decision will be made to re-fixture the match or Miscellaneous will lose points. Meanwhile, a draw for Sankoyo gave them hope for survival as the relegation battle gathers momentum.
Orapa United leapfrogged Police XI from position three following their 3-0 victory over Extension Gunners. Police XI on the other hand drew 1-1 with Security Systems. They have dropped to position four with BDF XI occupying the fifth position after their 2-2 draw with Miscellaneous.
At the bottom, things are looking bad for the sleeping giants, Mochudi Centre Chiefs who lost 3-1 to Sharps Shooting Stars on Friday night. It was Sharps’ first victory after a long time. Chiefs are still yet to play some tricky matches against Rollers, Police XI, Jwaneng Galaxy, GU and Sankoyo. They have so far collected 21 points, one ahead of Sankoyo.
