Bang Gae!, organiser of Mono Live Sessions, held the first monthly session on Friday at the No.1 Ladies Coffee Shop in Thapong Visual Arts Centre.  The mono live session was held under the theme ‘Appreciating Women’.

As women play a pivotal role in the community, the organisers wanted to appreciate their existence in acknowledgement of the saying that ‘Mme ke thari ya sechaba’ (woman is pillar of the nation). The crew saw it fit to acknowledge women in the music industry with Tirelo Tsheole, a producer and DJ by the stage name, Black Passo, telling Showtime that as a team they decided to turn things around.

They offered a different sound than their usual hip-hop, rnb, and motswako known at their quarterly sessions. Rnb and afro jazz singer, Nicole Martinez performed a number of songs including Rato Le Sa Khutleng, Pelo, Complications, No One Else and O Ile, which were in line with the theme.

She said her album would be released this week. Most of her songs talk about love and the challenges that revolve around it.

Another Afro pop artist, K Fros showered the event with a number of songs.

Other artists like Young Black and Big Duce did not show up as expected due to their work commitments.

DJ Black Passo said they are planning to host the live session every month and not quarterly as they have been doing.
