NGOs come to the rescue of Tropical Cyclone Idai victims

The effects of the Cyclone have been catastrophic leading to the death of thousands of people, displacement of hundreds of thousands and outbreaks of diseases such as cholera which continue to claim more lives weeks after the cyclone in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.

“Victims, who have been adversely, affected by this natural disaster need as much help as possible.

We are collaborating in an effort to mobilise resources for the affected countries and urge all trade unions, civil society organisations, businesses and individuals to contribute towards assisting our fellow affected Africans.

We also call upon SADC member States and their Citizenry to show their support through Regional Solidarity and begin to mobilise for such resources as well,” a press release from BFTU reads.

The collection of donations will run until April 25, 2019.
