Third dies in B151 road head-on collision

The deceased 45-year-old woman was admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital with critical injuries after the accident. She was a passenger in the sedan. 

Her death means all three people that were travelling in the sedan passed away. Two died on the spot. The deceased trio was reportedly coming from a funeral in Maunatlala. 

Initially, the police had reported that passengers travelling in the public service transport escaped with minor injuries. 

But of the 25 passengers, six were admitted at the Selebi-Phikwe Primary Hospital, while others were treated and released. 

Yesterday one of the six was referred to Nyangabgwe with serious injuries. 

Three are still admitted at Selebi Phikwe Hospital and two have been released, senior superintendent Jayson Chabota confirmed. 

The driver of the Sprinter minibus, who is believed to have caused the accident, has been released from custody but is likely to be charged. 

“The corpses of the deceased are undergoing a postmortem and only after that the driver of the public service transport might be charged with causing death by dangerous driving,” Chabota said.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, seven kilometres from Mogapi/Sefhophe gate on the B151 road. 

The Audi was coming from Maunatlala, while the bus was from Bobonong en route to Gaborone.
