Speaking at the official launch, the deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Tsaone Thebe, said the tools would help improve service delivery in Kgatleng.
The newsletter will provide a communication platform for the council's corporate values and its strategic priorities, programmes and projects, Thebe said. She explained that her ministry had decentralised toll-free lines to districts to ensure that all customers accessed quality service and that a complaint service centre would be established to keep track of complaint patterns.
The development plan of the planning area will go a long way in advancing and availing opportunities that came with it.
Speaking at the same ceremony, the Council Secretary Jimmy Nsala encouraged people to make use of the toll-free line in order to put the council in a better position to appreciate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as its opportunities and threats.
Concerning the newsletter, Nsala said it would keep the people of the district informed of services and activities of the council, promote information sharing between the council and its customers and enhance feedback from the community.
In his welcome remarks earlier, the Council Chairman Reverend Mpho Moruakgomo urged Bakgatla to familiarise themselves with council operations and to obtain service standards so that they may hold the council accountable.
