With 10 cows, more than six goats, all from the members of the community, plus contributions from the District Council and the BOT50 Committee, the VDC chairperson knew what he was talking about.
The food was so plentiful, it was eventually distributed among their various wards. Traditional beer for the elderly had also been prepared courtesy of the local VDC, while a huge cake was cut on October 1 and distributed to the village’s elderly and disabled, courtesy of Pinkie Setlalekgosi’s benevolence.
According to the chairman of the Mookane BOT50 organising committee based in Gaborone Prisca Mokgadi, the plan to host a monster BOT50 in Mookane by Ausi Pinkie was not decided overnight.
Mokgadi said it was over a year ago that Ausi Pinkie approached her about the concept and installed her as the chairperson of the organising committee in Gaborone. “ There were many of us when we started the committee and planning, but only a few remain today,” explained Mokgadi, who added that when the committee started they also invited even some non-Mookane residents to help them with ideas.
For her part, Ausi Pinki traced the beginning of this BOT50 monster Party to 2013, saying that she had been saving some little cash for the occasion since then. “I wanted to celebrate this occasion with my people; as you already know me, my VVIP are the elderly, our grannies; my grandfather died at the age of 110 years and he had given me love.
He was a very self-respecting man, and he taught me may good things as a young girl; my uncle too, Bishop Boniface Setlalekgosi, has been my tower of strength, he taught me a lot in life.”
She also paid tribute to her departed mother, who also hailed in the village, for her good heart
Ausi Pinkie also singled out the Mosinyi family for praise, for their contribution to the development of the village saying when she started lending a hand at the Primary school, she found the Mosinyi’s continuing their good deeds, donating 10 bags of sorghum and beans.
Sprint Couriers managing partner Michelle Gabriel and family, who ere present, were also singled out for praise for their contribution in making the day possible.
