Motswako Artist Honours President Masisi

The song is part of his latest 12-track debut album titled Setsuatsue and the 30-year-old said the song is a special dedication to President Masisi as he believes he possesses quality leadership akin to Biblical Moses.
He explained that during the Moses era, he saved his people, the Israelites from the Egyptians and therefore believes Masisi is also brave enough to do the same by rescuing Batswana from economic problems.
The album includes title track, Setsuatsue, which intends to convey that Verbal Slayer is here to take the music industry by storm. According to the artist, in 2016 while working on the album he dropped Selibe-Phikwe, which centres around the economic disruption of the town since the closure of the BCL mine.
Verbal Slayer said the response to the Selibe-Phikwe track was massive and motivated him to push an extra mile. He said one of his favourite songs in the album is Goora Motho since his fans always have something to say about the song through social media and whenever they meet him in person.
Other tracks in the album are Zaka, Tswelelopele, Gale Phirima, Pusha Sekorokoro and Motswako all sang in vernacular language.
The album features the likes of Phologolo formerly known as Ntsa, award winning Alan Kay, Tespo Oakile, Axe (Q systems) Jake Lamonta and Ronald Kegomoditswe.
Verbal Slayer added that the album is doing well in the market and already making notable airwaves in local radio stations. He said the album sold over 200 copies in less than a week of its release.
The multi-talented songwriter and producer said the album was produced at Verbal Production in Selebi-- Phikwe. He said one of the challenges they face currently as north-based artists is that they have to travel to Gaborone to drop their music as local radio and television stations do not have an online submission for music.
He also complained about some local promoters who exist just to rip them off their hard earned cash and let scalpers take advantage of all aspects of their shows.
When giving a background on the love for Motswako, Verbal Slayer said he developed passion for the genre way back when he was still a kid in the dusty streets of Sefhophe and always looked up to his homeboys who were always swagged up in the gangster rap regalia. He said his passion for rap music was fuelled by hip-hop groups that emerged from his home village, namely Massive Cyclones and Q system.
Verbal Slayer revealed that going forward, he intends to drop one more album then focus on production.
