Makgophe Suspension Reports Denied

Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Carter Morupisi said neither has Makgophe been suspended nor is he (Makgope) on verge of being fired from work. Recently, local media reports indicated that Makgophe was on suspension and that he was about to be fired from work due to the fact that his bosses were unhappy with his performance.
Since news about his alleged suspension surfaced, Makgophe has not commented on the issue but his boss, Morupisi, has denied the reports.
However, when asked by members of the media last Friday at the end of the BPS 47th Senior Officers Annual Conference, Makgophe denied being suspended at any point in time.
“Bagaetsho, as you heard from the PSP, I was never suspended. Not even for an hour. I don’t know where the issue of suspension came from. But I did respond to some of enquiries from members of the media however, nobody could believe me,” he said. “That is why the PSP took it upon himself to confirm that I was not suspended. If he has spoken, who else can say anything to satisfy your enquiry? It is just to confirm that I was never suspended.”
On the alleged reports that he is likely to be redeployed, Makgophe said the question could be directed to his employer since as a senior government official, he serves at the pleasure of the State President. He added that although he is currently happy to be the BPS Commissioner, he would gladly take any assignment he is tasked by the superiors.
“I serve at the mercy of the President and if I am to be assigned a new post, I will gladly accept and take it. I am the Commissioner and I am happy here. I am here to serve. I am not aware that I will be redeployed but if it happens there is nothing I can do,” he said.
Makgophe said his superiors have not at any time told him that his performance was unsatisfactory. He stated that as far as he was concerned, he has achieved significant success as the chief of BPS, but the successes could not only be attributed to him alone without appreciating the contributions and foundations laid by his predecessors.
