The 50-To-50 theme was derived from the fact that 50 artists will be celebrating 50 years of independence performing for 50 hours.

Kgwanyape band, which has been out of the spotlight for a number of years, took the audience, more especially the old folks by surprise. The band that was performing live music treated the audience to its beautiful songs filled with rich Setswana flavours like Sheleng, Nyatsi Boela gae, Mosadi waka and Tsetsebjwe which clearly took the old folk back in time.

Their performance seemed to be an icing on the cake for Balekane-Ba-Botswana (peers of the country) who danced their legs off to the magical rhythms. As if that was not enough, Balekane-Ba-Botswana did not want to be left behind and decided to take advantage of the event. They proudly sang and danced, making the event a memorable one while the youth watched them in admiration while some decided to join the dancers in the dance floor.

The Trans-Kalahari Quintet, a jazz combo based in Gaborone, treated the audience to smooth jazz beats. They did not seem to win the fans’ hearts, more especially the young generation who appeared indifferent  to the jazz tunes. Only a handful of adults nodded their enjoyment of the smooth melodies.

Kabelo Eric also treated the audience to a superb gospel performance. He was put on stage after a request from Kgosi Maruje III of Masunga who wanted to be treated to gospel music.

Former Motswako crew, The Real Magosi, who have turned to gospel, decided to bless the event with their magical hymns which has a blend of rap. The crew further informed the audience that they were born again and had thus decided to focus in giving praises to the Lord.  Another energetic group that had the audience eating out of their palms was A Re Gopoleng Gospel Boys who rendered Sione hymns. The young men had the showgoers on their feet with their hyper-energetic performances.

By the last tune, the audience still had not gotten enough of them. Even though the event was not as glamorous as organisers had promised, it was peaceful and had attracted a satisfying crowd who decided to take advantage of the free event. Most of them had an opportunity to mingle with their favourite artists.

The 50 hours of dancemania had attracted 50 artists, who included Ban T, Stompie, Amanandos, Banjo Mosele, Thabang Garogwe and many other talented local artists. During the event, the performances were interchanged every five hours, which seemed to have thrilled the audience.
