Justice moves to handle pending cases

The decision takes effect on April 15 this year. The cases are a result of the Kgomokhumo initiative undertaken by the Botswana Police Service recently to fight crime.

The Magistrates will handle cases from one district to the other at intervals of three per district. A statement from the department says the exercise will cover areas such as  Molepolole, Sojwe, Takatokwane, Letlhakeng and Thamaga.

Further, the Police say they have arrested some Batswana since the inception of the operation. In their view, the arrests are an indication that some people depend on stock theft for survival.

Applauding what he said was the success of the Kgomokhumo exercise, the Registrar and Master of the High Court, Michael Motlhabi explained that it would be replicated in other areas such as Gantsi.

He has also hailed as a noble attempt by the Botswana Police Service to deal with crime, says the statement.
