Botswana Is A Miracle Country- Kgosi Masunga

Speaking at the Friday night event, Masunga said the country was a story so different from other countries as it was blessed with people who loved peace and tranquility. He explained that it was a miracle that since her first independence to date, the country has not had any turmoil and remained peaceful.

“As we look forward to the celebration of the country’s golden jubilee, I have observed that our nation is on a jubilant mood. Having been driving across the country, all I could see is peace and harmony in people’s faces, as they look forward to  the country’s 50th Independence. That had me realise that we are indeed basking in the moment of honour,” he said proudly.

Masunga further explained the country was indeed a united nation that was tolerant of other nationals and tribes. However, he pointed out that even though Botswana started off as one of the under-developed countries, her journey to the top had not been a bed of roses as she had her challenges, but fought hard to make her what she is today.  Furthermore, he explained that the golden jubilee was exciting time that needed every Motswana to put his or her difference aside and be united, joyous and proud nation. He said it was by the grace of God that Botswana was able to sustain peace for good 50 years as in some countries; someone was hungry, running for their lives and striving for peace.

“It is by the grace of God that we have been living in harmony. Vision 2016 is also ending and we are starting a new vision that is Vision 2036 which shows that we have to leave the old chapter behind us as a country and start a new one,” he said.

Kgosi Masunga further urged the nation to continue having faith in God for continued peace, harmony and his protection.

For his part, councillor for Bontleng Ward in the Gaborone South constituency, Olebogeng Kemelo said it was indeed true that Botswana was a peaceful and democratic country. He said the country had achieved a lot of developments on its own. He said looking at the history of the country it was clear that indeed Botswana was under the mercy of God.

However, Kemelo expressed concern over the rising road accidents that continue to claim lives on daily basis. He said everyday two or more lives were lost due to irresponsible driving and thus meant a great loss not only to family members but the country at large.

Kemelo further advised drivers to be careful when driving and to always be vigilant while driving. He also urged them to always drive at moderate speed to avoid unnecessary road accidents.
