The Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) on Wednesday seized a jet and a helicopter he has been using to campaign around the country.

BURS had allegedly been working around the clock to get its hands on the helicopter and airplane unveiled over the Easter holidays by Boko, on suspicion that the aircraft were irregularly brought into the country.

Boko told this publication just before noon that he was back on his campaign in Masunga despite being without the aircraft. He also said he still does not know why his aircraft was grounded.

“My pilots have been released and they are back at the hotel. They said the officers were polite and professional. The officers do not have a clue what is happening and are just following instructions.  First they said it was immigration issues and took the pilots’ passports. They then said it was civil aviation and demanded all landing clearances when tey did not avail anything, they said it is a customs issue,” he said.

It is not the first time Boko clashed with the taxman as he recently had his car impounded. However, the Range Rover was not auctioned as there were reports that Boko’s associates had promised to clear his tax debt.
