Easter holidays register drop in incidents

According to the police a total of 211 road accidents were recorded as compared to 350 recorded the previous year portraying a decrease of 39.7%. 

“A total of six people died in five fatal road accidents from April 18 to 23 compared to 17 who died in 11 fatal road accidents the same period last year,” stated the police. 

The police statement indicated that the notable decrease in fatal crashes and resultant causalities was attributed to strategic deployment of police resources at key areas of concern and unwavering support of other stakeholders and partners in road safety. 

Meanwhile in other offences, a total of four murder incidents were recorded during the period under review as compared to nine murder incidents that were recoded in the preceding year. 

The police further said they registered 27 rape cases compared to 52 cases in 2018.
