Out of all the seven contestants, she impressed the judges so much that they gave her the first position.

Ratlhageng is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Science Degree majoring in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Botswana (UB).

She impressed the judges and the crowd with her thoughtful and excellent answer to a question about a Setswana proverb by the judges.

Speaking to ShowTime, the newly crowned Miss UB Setso made reference to the first president, the late Seretse Khama’s words when he said ‘Chaba e senang ngwao, ke moka e latlhegile’(a nation without culture is a lost one), hence the need to embrace culture.

She also stated that now that she has won the title, her next step going forward is to be an advocate for street market vendors and make sure they get a sheltered area where they can use to operate from.

She walked away with free training at a beauty hub academy, P2,000 worth of beauty treatments at Camelot, P1,500 shopping voucher at Edgars and Setso exclusive game and books.

 Miss UB Setso was held Friday under the theme ‘Bontle, Botho, Botswerere jwa Ngwana wa Motswana’. The event, that aimed at raising funds for charity, took place at UB Indoor Sports Arena where the beauty of culture was displayed.

With a total of seven contestants who prided themselves with culture, the event gave appreciative attendees a feel of culture.

Tswana Poetry group entertained the crowd with their beautiful performance that left the audience wanting more of the Setswana poetry.

Morolong woman, Olorato Lefenya, 24, walked away with the first princess spot which entailed P1,500 worth of beauty treatment at Camelot spar, P1,000 shopping voucher at Edgars and Setso exclusive game and books.

The second princess, Criminal Justice student, Motlatsi Mogorosi,21 who thoughseemingly the crowd’s favouritesettled for third place. She had the audience eating out of her palm whenever she sashayed on to the stage with her presence.

She also did not go home empty-handed as her efforts saw her walk away with P1,000 worth of beauty treatments, P800 shopping voucher at Edgars and Setso exclusive game and books.
