The Goledzwa Football Tournament comprises six major teams from Tutume village. These are Happy Hearts Football Club, Bashe Rollers Football Club, Gulana United Football Club, Madumilano Football Club, Mangaungau Football Club and Kwabangalala Football Club.

“Through the good heartedness and generosity of our sponsors like Dupa Enterprises Corporation, we have been able to raise P1,000 for each ward where our teams are from. We realise that our supporters, like the rest of Batswana, will be celebrating our country’s 50 years of independence and therefore, we found it incumbent upon ourselves to make a contribution, however small, to the celebration,” said a statement from the organisers.

“We see our tournament as a community tournament, which does not only entertain our people during festive seasons, but also plays an active role in the affairs of our community. It is now common knowledge that every year, we donate some money to the Tutume main kgotla for the village’s “leobo” project”.

The statement also said they use the proceeds to buy Christmas hampers for patients at Tutume Primary Hospital every year because they realise that many of them are not able to join their families and loved ones during the festive season because of ill health.

“We therefore, encourage our supporters and the people of Tutume at large to enjoy our 50th independence celebrations in a responsible manner. We encourage them to stay away from anything that may do harm to themselves or other people during these important celebrations. We further invite them to our ground for the Goledzwa Independence mini tournament that will be held from September 29, 2016 to celebrate our national independence. This time around entrance will be free. “We are in celebratory mood. We also invite small businesses and hawkers who want to sell anything during our matches to come and do so for free. As a tournament of the people, we want to celebrate with them and entertain them with our matches.

“We therefore, wish the people of Tutume and the Botswana nation as whole, joyous and fruitful independence celebrations. We want everyone to enjoy themselves to their best ability since many of us may not be there when the second batch of 50 years celebrations is conducted in 2066”.
