Nomina drops Amadlozi

The Maitengwe native, whose musical genre is a fusion of RnB, Pop mixed with African sounds and electro elements, is currently in the country to promote her new single released in April.
She told Arts & Culture that there has been a positive vibe to the song since its release.
Nomina stated that although the song was recorded in Germany, its reception has been positive as it carries African musical elements.
“When I wrote this song it was to remind people about our roots and where we come from. Of course we are Christians and live in different ways, but we don’t have to forget where we come from. Embracing our ancestors has been part of our culture, it’s a positive song,” she said of the single.
Nomina stated that although in her early musical career, she sang in regional hip-hop and gospel bands, her musical spectrum is more of modern.
“My music is fused with RnB, Pop, soul, tribal house mixed with African elements,” she said.
The single was released in platforms such as online and radio and has enjoyed rotation on local radio stations.
“I can safely say the reception has been positive. It has made it to RB2 Top 40 this week,” she said.
The album was also set for release in the next month or so, but because there is a company in South Africa that is interested in signing her, she is waiting on the deal.
“Surely we will launch the album in Botswana when we are done with other things,” she said.
The artist said she intends to host a launch for the single in May as part of creating hype around her upcoming album. On the song she features her brother Slam, Mendel, and Lewisky who originally composed the instrumentals.
Some of Nomina’s known songs include Mamaland, Don’t Cry Africa, How Could You Lie, Babe Love.
