The meeting is expected to pull a huge crowd. According to speculations, buses would be transporting people from different locations to Serowe showgrounds where the meeting would be held.

The organiser of the meeting, Prince Moitoi, explained that Khama called the meeting to brief his people and the nation about all the political developments and bogosi issues that have surrounded him since he left the presidency.

Civic leaders in the region are keen to attend the meeting. Botswana Democratic Party councillor for Mogorosi/Thabala, Kadimo Oremeng said he has been invited and he will be attending the meeting.

“I don’t know what the agenda really is all about, but rumours points to a huge meeting that I cannot miss. There are a lot of speculations about this meeting and some are political and it is important that I attend the meeting,” he said.

“I am not worried. I spoke to some of my colleagues, and many of them will be coming to this meeting even those that were supporting President Mokgweetsi Masisi. We all want to hear what the former president has to say. I don’t think it would be a problem.”

Councillor for Serowe West, Gaotilwe Omphile, who also was cautioned for attending Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi’s Lady Khama hall meeting, said he would also be attending to Kgosikgolo’s calling. He said he knew of the meeting after the BDP verdicts on the Guma Moyo and Prince Maele matters.

“This meeting was formulated after the verdicts and I have always known about it. It has everything to do with the recent political issues against Kgosikgolo. I have got no reservations at all, and I am openly attending this meeting,” he said. Councillor for Boikago/Madiba ward in Palapye, Area Gabathusi said he was invited to the meeting. Gabathusi lost the BCP primaries and would be contesting as an independent candidate.

“I have been invited. Ke Mongwato, Kgosikgolo wants to speak to us and there is no way I am going to miss this meeting. It is going to be a huge meeting and according to speculations, many interesting issues are going to be discussed and we should be there.”

Councillor, Charles Mponang of Kalamare said he would be travelling to the meeting. He said many constituents in his area have also expressed interest to attend, “I think many people are going to attend from this side.” “I am in the programme and I know what is going to be discussed, I cannot divulge anything now. Khama is not only Kgosikgolo to me; he is a father figure and my former president. He has been my boss in the army and I must honour his calling. My people also want to come to this meeting.”

Meanwhile, Central District Council Chairperson Peter Williams said he has seen the invitation on social media. “I don’t think it concerns us that much, otherwise we would have received a specific invitation. It is Kgosi’s meeting with his people that is all I know about it. I have not been invited,” he said.
