Galaxy on Tuesday lodged a protest on the rescheduled league fixture between Rollers and Miscellaneous that was played at the Lobatse Sports Complex.

In a letter written to the Botswana Premier League (BPL) on Tuesday, Galaxy said the match was ‘unlawful and improperly fixtured’ and demanded the last round of league games to be suspended to allow a decision on the matter.

The fixture was to be played on March 12 at the UB Stadium, but Miscellaneous did not turn up, arguing they received communication from the BPL, late.

The fixture was then rescheduled to Tuesday where Rollers won 1-0, effectively handing them the league title.  “The decision to reschedule the match was made by the BFA so we have since referred the protest to the BFA,” BPL chief executive officer, Thabo Ntshinogang told Mmegi Sport yesterday. “This is because we were instructed to reschedule the game by the BFA.”  BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo said he had not received correspondence from the BPL hence could not comment.

“I have not received anything of that sort on my desk yet. I am busy preparing for the (BFA) board meeting this weekend. Everything that comes before my office is urgent, as much as the weekend’s meeting.  So, I will be able to respond on the matter once I receive the letter from the BPL,” Mfolo said.

Galaxy are four points behind Rollers and the diamond miners’ coach, Miguel da Costa blasted the league administrators last weekend, arguing the playing ground was not level.
