Ghetto Derby Ends In Stalemate

The duel started slowly but sprang to life in the second half when the two sides went for each other in a thrilling see-saw battle. In the 52nd minute, Teko Molapisi of TAFIC went agonisingly close with a header from outside the penalty box. Moments later, it was Mamojadiskie on the attack after winning a midfield battle but the good chance did not yield fruits as the ball flew over the bar. Both defences were on high alert with the likes of Trinity Nko, Ontse Ntesa and Keabetswe Jenamiso outstanding in the ECCO rearguard.

ECCO tried several times to penetrate the TAFIC defence but were stopped in their tracks. On the few occasions they got through, TAFIC goalkeeper Aaron Molebatsi came to the rescue.

ECCO eluded the TAFIC defence and Mandlaenkosi Sibanda set-up Bonolo Fraizer inside the box. But instead of going for goal, Fraizer passed the ball and an advancing Molebatsi averted the danger.

Both coaches were happy with the result after the game. Maxwell Moyo could only rue missed chances, but said this happens in a game of football. Willard Khumalo of TAFIC said he was happy with the performance of his charges.
