Battle for Zebras job down to six

The BFA did not mention the six, but former Zebras coaches, Peter Butler and Jelusic Veselin are among front runners.

Former Township Rollers coach, Nikola Kavazovic is also in the frame, as the BFA seeks to replace David Bright who was sacked in February.

Mogomotsi Mpote is holding fort on an interim basis, but it is unclear if he has made the shortlist.

'Leading the national team to glory is a BFA priority and the successful candidate will need all the criteria to re ignite the pride of the nation,' BFA said in a statement on Tuesday.

The new man is expected to take charge of the team after the COSAFA Cup, which takes place at the end of May in Durban, South Africa.

The key deliverable is expected to be qualification for the African Nations Championships (CHAN), where Mpote has made a solid start.

Mpote's charges beat lowly Seychelles 5-1 on aggregate, to advance to the second round of the competition, meant for local based players only.
