The 27-year-old died from a suspected heart attack. He was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was certified dead.

Matebejana and First Division South secretary general, Tico Kamati said, since it was already off-season, the player had asked to train with his former team, Red Lions in Selebi-Phikwe, to keep fit. 'We received the news yesterday, our players are in rest following the end of the season. So he was back home and opted to train with Red Lions.

According to his family he was jogging before he complained of breathing problems. He then had bottle of water and thought he was okay to resume his training. But as soon as he carried on, he collapsed on and unfortunately passed away.'

'This is very sad, because we had just brought him from Blue Diamonds in Phikwe in the January transfer window to help with our cause in the league. But he died before he could make more impact, he had the potential hence he quickly became one of our key players within a very short period,' Kamati said. Sebopi spent his development career at Nico United and FC Satmos before joining Red Lions and Diamonds.
