Tan Sri Limkokwing is a well-known global creative force for innovation and drive for transformation in tertiary education and the President/Founder of Malaysia’s most globalised University.

At the awards ceremony held at Limkokwing University’s main campus in Malaysia, ASIC Chairman, Maurice Dimmock, said the students at the University acquire knowledge and skills from basic to advanced levels across a wide range of institution and work settings and in diverse socio-economic contexts. “It is in this environment that it gives me great pleasure to make these awards to Tan Sri Limkokwing and to the Limkokwing University.”

He also said ASIC will also be with Tan Sri Limkokwing and the University to network them with world networks such as Intentional Vocation and Education and Training Association (IVETA), TVET-UK, UNICEF and UNESCO. “This will give them access to regeneration projects in Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia and the Congo.

“UNESCO procures goods and services estimated at around USD125 Million per annum,” he said. “In addition to the requirements for the implementation of the programme are activities under the main themes of education, natural sciences, social and human science, culture and communications.”

According to Dimmock, Limkokwing University, with its rich history of transformational education is perfectly aligned to be successful in procuring these contracts and making a real difference to these countries and indeed would be a continuation of what the University have been doing for the last five years in Africa.

“It is in recognition of this work of Limkokwing University and of Tan Sri Limkokwing’s vision and dynamic, transforming leadership that ASIC wish to honour them both today,” he said. “Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is a truly Global TVET Model University, led by an inspirational leader in Tan Sri Limkokwing. This recognition encompasses the successful systematic delivery of industry-relevant programmes across its campuses in Asia, Africa and Europe. Programmes which prioritise digital skills, creativity and design to produce human capital imbued with the skill set needed by industry to manage the challenges of a globalised technology driven workforce.”

In accepting the awards on behalf of Limkowing University, Dayo Raja Aznil, Senior Vice-President, Industry Empowerment said the Limkokwing model provide the yardstick with which  TVET in Malaysia can build the right approach to vocational education that addresses talent needs of creative industries identified by UNESCO as the world’s fastest growing sector. “With ASIC’s recognition as Global TVET Model University, Malaysia can fulfil its strategies to strengthen governance, enhance delivery and quality of programmes as well as improve branding of TVET as attractive career choices,” he said.

Dato Raja Aznil also said Limkokwing University has all the right attributes to provide the support that technical vocational education and training needs to produce the talent and skills the creative industries are desperate for as their businesses soar.

“Our mission is to produce highly skilled graduates who are equipped to participate in the national economies. In consequences of our creative industry orientation our graduates are more job creators rather than job seekers – precisely what the national economy needs. Our graduates are recognised as the best and crucially as ‘industry ready’ by virtue of our TVET model which has developed and evolved over the last 25 years”.

ASIC recognises the University’s successful systematic delivery of industry-relevant programmes across the globe as well as its Founder and President’s pioneering efforts in education.

ASIC, an independent, government approved accreditation body specialising in the accreditation of schools, colleges, universities, training organisations and online and distance education providers, is a member of the British Quality Foundation (BQF), sits on the Quality Standards Group of UK NARIC.
