Videos and sound bites of Sir Seretse Khama mashed with Metropolitan Life promotional messages opened the curtains as theatrical performers, donned in Botswana colours, artistically and majestically staged well choreographed dance moves in front of the giant television screen that beamed the video and sound bites by Sir Seretse Khama.

It was a fitting tribute to the nation and a timely reminder of the spirit of the moment, the BOT50 anniversary celebrations.

The eye-catching theatrics continued as traditional dancers from Old Naledi, Mafitlhakgosi, filtered into the theatre with rhythmic drums and impressive foot works, before one of the most celebrated pop performers Eugene Jackson entered the stage as the theatrical dancers continued their thing in the background.

Amantle Brown, and her band the performer of the moment, also added colour to the night with her lovely tunes.

It was a truly glittering night for Metropolitan on many fronts as they celebrated business growth that has surpassed the previous year.

According to Metropolitan Botswana’s regional manager, Thabo Lejowa they have realised 60% growth in single premium from the previous year, 37% growth in recurring premium from the previous year, and 56% growth in the number of policies from previous year, while they have also realised a total new business policy contribution of 48% to the retail business, from 27% just four years back.

Metropolitan Life Botswana used the occasion to celebrate the star performers that bring them the growth, and top of them were two women who were acknowledged for bringing million Pula worth of business in the past year.

Jennifer Kobuoa, who became Metropolitan’s first millionaire financial advisor last year, was on the podium again on Saturday to celebrate another millionaire feat.

Oganeditse Jack was the other millionaire achiever to be celebrated on the night.

But the night surely belonged to Kobuoa who went home with a hatrick of gongs.

After winning the millionaire club award, Jennifer would bag the Best Annual Premium Income (API) award and the Best overall performer award.

Tshidi Matlou won the double-Best newcomer and the Bonanza winner. There were also awards for teams, best conservation, most improved, amongst others.
