Gospel Awards Nominees Revealed

The artist with the most nominations was Motlalepula with eight in the best contemporary gospel, best gospel collaboration, best gospel video, gospel song of the year, gospel artist of the year, best gospel album of the year, best gospel female artist and best song writer awards.
Amongst the artists with the most nominees was Obakeng who got six nominations in the best gospel male artist, gospel album of the year, and gospel artist of the year, gospel song of the year, best gospel music video and best traditional gospel.
Another gospel artist, Dr E received five nominations in the best motswako/hip hop gospel, best gospel single, best gospel collaboration, gospel song of the year and best song writer.
Kaybee was also amongst the top nominees with nominations in the best gospel single, best gospel collaboration, best gospel and female artist.
Gloria Dzwikiti, who is one the organisers of the awards, said it was an easy journey but it has been worth it to celebrate and also encourage gospel musicians in Botswana.
“I commend all the artist that signed up for the awards for the hard work that they have put through and also to congratulate all the nominees and to those that didn’t make it. It’s definitely not the end of the road,” added Dzwikiti.
Lebo Timpa, who launched the website, revealed that all the necessary information people need to know about BOGMA will be on the platform including pictures from previous award shows.
Nkgopolang Tlhomelang, who is the project overseer, said it was a mountain to climb. “I would like to extend my greatest gratitude to MP Haskings Nkaigwa and Kagiso Ntime for helping us ever since the beginning of our initiative,” Tlhomelang said.
For his side Nkaigwa stated that he was honoured to be a part of such a great gesture. “I’d like to pledge an amount of P5,000 towards the event to help gospel music grow,” Nkaigwa said.
He continued to applaud Dzwikiti for a good job she has done in the gospel music industry. The exact date for the event will be revealed at a later time together with the ticket prices. BOGMA’s website is bwgospel.co.bw.
