The pageant held at the Pavilion was hosted under the theme ‘Uniting Botswana through tourism, culture and peace’.

When asked what made her proud as a Motswana woman, the 20-year-old from Tonota confidently answered that Botswana was a peaceful country. She added that she was also proud of the government as unlike other countries it was offering its people free education. Moalosi added that Batswana women were strong people.

Even though her answers seemed to have not won the audience’s hearts, the judges thought otherwise.

Moalosi proved to be talented from the onset when she scored a number of fans with her beautiful traditional dance during the talent show.

Taking the first princess spot was Mmapaseka Monyatsi, a 21-year-old Baisago College student. Asked what change she would bring if she was crowned Miss Global International Botswana, Monyatsi said she would become an entrepreneur and create jobs for the youth. She also said she was going to teach to youth about Botswana tradition in order to preserve it.

Boitumelo Marera, who was earlier added to the top five making the pageant have top six finalist, was crowned second princess.

The crowd, who had initially expressed their unhappiness at the judges’ decision to go against tradition by adding her in the top five, proved many wrong with brilliant answer. Marera was asked what a Setswana saying Mosadi Thari ya Sechaba meant to her, and without hesitation she said: “Mosadi ke thari ya sechaba means a Motswana woman who is independent. A woman who takes care for her children and the community at large”.

Other contestants who made it to the top six were Laone Tlhaselo, Bolokanang Motsolopi and Monosi Moseki.

The competition was very tough as all the contestants were on point. Their performances were extraordinary and their posture brilliant.

In the talent show some of the outstanding performances were that of Yaone Kobedi’s rap song lezothi ka baba, Ratie Molayakgosi who was playing diketo and Moalosi’s traditional dance.

Moalosi will represent Botswana at Miss Global International Pageant at the Dominican Republic in October. Miss Photogenic, 22-year-old Tuduetso Ntshima from Pitsane will on the other hand represent Botswana in China next month. As usual, Flexy Ville  got the audience eating out of their palms with their magnificent performance. Spiza, Fio Matt and Lethabo Weddings Choreography also outdid themselves to keep the audience captivated.
