Funeral Plans Ongoing For AP's Mothudi

AP Secretary General, Phenyo Butale said Mothudi’s passing hurt them greatly as she was an asset to the party and the nation.
“She has not been well for some time, but we never thought she was going to leave us. She was a fighter. Her passing is a huge loss to the whole country. Mothudi joined politics at a tender age and contributed a lot to women participation and empowerment over the years,” he said.
Many would remember Mothudi for her passion about women empowerment. She always sought opportunities and resources to capacitate women.
“She worked hard in building the AP and its structures. She also made progressive contributions to policy decisions such as the 50/ 50 quota representation of women and other marginalised groups in the party structures. She and other women also came up with the idea to have it in the country constitution when we takeover power,” said Butale.
The founding president of AP Women’s league held the same position at the Botswana Movement for Democracy before she was expelled from the party alongside other senior party members.
Mothudi is also a former member of the Botswana Congress Party Central Committee. She was once BCP’s Women’s League president and also candidate for the Kweneng South East (now Gabane- Mmankgodi) constituency.
Meanwhile, funeral arrangements and plans for a memorial service have not been finalised. Evening prayers sessions are being held at Mothudi’s home in Gabane, said Butale.
